Alex has been planning this Fort Lauderdale surprise proposal for months. After having met their senior year of college, it’s now five years later, and Alex can’t wait to pop the question!

I set up my beach blanket and waited. Shortly after, a couple started walking past me. They set up their blanket and sat near the water, anticipating the beautiful sunrise they woke up for, despite their inner desire to sleep in. Or should I say, Alex’s inner desire since, as he mentioned to me beforehand, Becca always drags him out of bed for sunrises whenever they travel. Haha!

Just capturing a few intimate moments as the sun started to rise. That’s when she noticed me in the background taking photos of them … and yet another priceless moment!🤣Alex has been planning this Fort Lauderdale surprise proposal for months. Although I personally loved her sweatshirt (“Future Stay-at-Home Dog Mom”), they wanted an outfit change for their engagement session. I always recommend:

  1. Work with your photographer to do a mini engagement session post-proposal. This is great to have to document the day, have some casual photos of the two of you, and to update those social media profile pictures. Also, they’re super cute for save-the-dates and wedding websites!
  2. Making sure that when you are planning a surprise proposal, make sure you always have a change of clothes for your significant other. Whether you have them pack it (“oh, bring a change of clothes, just in case we want to grab breakfast after, or if we accidentally get too sandy or wet.”) or you can take it upon yourself pack their favorite outfit. They’ll thank you for it!

So after their Fort Lauderdale surprise proposal and a quick change, we moved onto their mini engagement session. Luckily, being so early in the morning, we pretty much had the beach to ourselves.

Alex actually picked out the ring himself. I love how unique it is … and I’m always partial to some rose gold!
