Sabrina and Derek’s Engagement Session at Hillsboro Inlet

Sabrina and Derek’s Engagement Session at Hillsboro Inlet

For three consecutive weeks, it had been raining here in South Florida. Daily rain, with dark clouds, no sun. So when Sabrina and Derek told me they were coming from Texas and wanted a photo session, all I could do was pray. Pray that somehow, magically, the rain would pause and we’d get a chance to do our sunrise session. Not only for my sake, but for the sake of this couple who were coming from out of state. Not only did the sun peek out, but it also gave us beautiful sky colors!!! We had a gorgeous sunrise engagement session at Hillsboro Inlet, and I am in love with the images!

S+D

High School sweethearts, these two have been together for eight years. Now married for two years, Sabrina and Derek take a trip every year to celebrate their anniversary. This year, they decided to board a cruise ship out of Fort Lauderdale and head to the Caribbean. But not before doing a romantic session on land!

Rise and Shine!

Little did I know, Sabrina and Derek had just gotten into town the day of session … at 2 AM. Our session started at 6:20 AM. Meaning, they didn’t get any sleep.

But I never would have known! They arrived early, in great spirits, and such a beautiful and sweet couple. Not to mention, so in love. I had to do very little posing since they were so natural and good together.

I’ll Always Be Your Little Girl: A Mommy and Me Session

I’ll Always Be Your Little Girl: A Mommy and Me Session

There’s always a special bond between a mom and her child, between the 9 months of being inside mommy’s belly and, well, all phases of growing up.

Amber, of Oh My! Occasions, and her mom have always had a tight bond. Although there is quite a physical distance between them now, that closeness hasn’t waned. Since her mom’s birthday and Mother’s Day are back-to-back, Amber reached out wanting to gift her mother with a Mommy and Me Session at Mizner Park in Boca Raton.

What a stinking cute idea – I loved it and I was so in! And to top it all off, it was to be a surprise!

The Plan

Okay, so the plan was that her mother and her were going to get pampered for a networking event. They were to meet me at Mizner and head out from there. Little did she know that I’d be hiding in the bushes to catch her reaction when she found out what this really was!

Two-Part Session

This session was to play two roles: 1. To update mom’s headshots and profile pictures (i.e. LinkedIn and Facebook). And look just how beautiful this lady is. She should definitely have her picture taken more often!Mommy and Me Session | Florida PhotographerReason number 2: To get some recent pictures of mom and daughter. Happy Mother’s Day and Happy birthday to this beautiful mom and a big thank you to Amber for including me in this very special session!

A Delray Beach Engagement Session

Delray Beach Engagement Session

Rain couldn’t stop this Delray Beach engagement session, and thank goodness it didn’t because it was an epic one! Dips, twirls, and kissing in the rain have never been so romantic!

How They Met (Since We All Love a Good Love Story)

Online dating has been on the up and up for a while now. What a great way for busy people to date, not to mention those who are a bit shy, like myself! And there are tons of options out there … Match, eHarmony, Plenty of Fish … and I’m going to stop there since that’s how the happy couple met.

Samantha, being new to Florida, was convinced by her friends to join Plenty of Fish. Shortly after creating her profile, Eric messaged her. Although it took her a hot minute to respond, since she thought his profile was fake, she finally did and thank goodness for that!

It was an instant connection and they went on their first date. The date went so well that they have remained inseparable ever since (hence why there is now this Delray Beach Engagement session blog post up but we’ll get back to that)!

He Proposed, She Said Yes!

Samantha always wanted to visit New York, so Eric’s Christmas present to her was just that. And what’s better than making this trip a reality? A proposal!

It was just a typical day, walking through New York City, and ending up on Broadway to see “Chicago.” **I personally feel that you can’t go to NYC and not see a Broadway musical**

They met Eric’s friend for dinner, where it was suggested that they take a trip to Times Square, another tourist not-to-miss spot! When they stepped into the square, Samantha asked the friend to take a picture of her and Eric in the middle of Times Square. This is when Eric pulled out the ring and asked Samantha to marry him.

The rest is history!

Engaged … Now What?!

When Samantha and Eric initially reached out and booked their session with me, they hadn’t settled on a wedding date or venue yet. Unfortunately, I found out two days before our session that the date they settled on, I was already booked. Lucky for me though, I still got the opportunity to meet these two lovely people and photograph their Delray Beach engagement session.

It rained. A lot. And consistently. However, no rain could stop us! In fact, in some ways, it actually helped us. There were way less people on the streets and on the beach, so less photobombing!

We started at Pineapple Grove, and stopped whenever we found a good backdrop, like the old railroad station, the pinball museum, and the streets of Delray. And we ended at the beach!

Birthday Portraits at Mizner Park

Birthday Portraits at Mizner Park

Last year, Avery celebrated her 4th birthday surrounded by “My Little Pony,” “Trolls,” and her closest friends and family. This year, she’s going a more simple way of celebrating: birthday portraits at Mizner Park.

Well, ‘simple’ might be an understatement. Especially since this session is followed by a trip to New York City to see “Anastasia” on Broadway (lucky girl!). I would say it sounds like the best birthday ever! In fact, can I just come with?! I remember seeing “Anastasia” as a kid, knowing the songs by heart (still do!), and collecting all the toys (barbies, stuffed animals, coloring books, and all).

Our Session

Wearing pink, a special necklace given to her by her grandmother, and enough balloons to take her to the moon, Avery came fully prepared for her session.

What better setting to take place for this pink session? Mizner Park, of course! With its pink buildings, lush park, and fountains, it was an awesome backdrop for Avery and accented the session perfectly!

I mean, daddy carrying the pink balloons, Avery hopping and skipping, and mom in the back carrying all the bags … Ever wonder what really goes on behind the scenes of a session? Just take a look:Birthday Portraits at Mizner Park | Florida PhotographerBirthday Portraits at Mizner Park | Florida PhotographerThe Modern Boca Family:Birthday Portraits at Mizner Park | Florida PhotographerAnd to recreate the image of Avery’s 1st year birthday session, we had her pose the exact same way. I don’t have any pictures of the picture we were referencing since we were working off of the picture from Michelle’s cell phone, but basically it’s the same picture, just a different location. Obviously, the main difference is age and Avery is actually able to hold the balloons this time!Birthday Portraits at Mizner Park | Florida PhotographerBirthday Portraits at Mizner Park | Florida Photographer

Happy 5th birthday, Avery! Wishing you an amazing trip to NYC (take me with you!) and the best birthday yet!

Wint Family Session at South Inlet Park | Boca Raton

Military Family Session at South Inlet Park in Boca Raton

A Military Family Session at South Inlet Park in Boca Raton with the Wints:

Originally from Jamaica, Jahbari moved to the United States a few years ago. Having been in the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force and having a military background, it was only natural for him to want to join the U.S. military. So he did.

Jahbari is now a member of the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard, whose “primary mission is to represent the service in Presidential, Joint Armed Forces, Navy, and public ceremonies in and around the nation’s capital.

Members of the Navy Ceremonial Guard participate in some of our nation’s most prestigious ceremonies, including Presidential inaugurations and arrival ceremonies for foreign officials.  In addition, the Navy Ceremonial Guard serves as the funeral escort and conducts all services for Navy personnel buried in Arlington National Cemetery.”

Time to Update the Family Photos

This strong and motivated young man is heading to Washington D.C. for training and wanted a family session before heading out on his new journey.

He also dabbles in photography so he had an idea of what he was looking for. Specifically, he wanted some profile shots of him in his uniform, in addition to pictures of him with his mom, dad, and sister.

South Inlet Park

As you might have noticed, this park is one of my favorites in the Boca Raton area. Surrounded by water, tropical trees, pavilions, and a jetty, it has pretty much all you need from a photographer’s standpoint.

Because of our limited time and last minute booking, we were limited to when we could do our session. Unfortunately, they could only do it at a time when the sun was harsh and the day was a bit windy. On the bright side, the sun was out and gave us some great back-lighting!

The Wint Family

You can tell that the Wint family is super close and love each other very much. And it’s obvious how proud they are of their son and brother. This family was such a joy to work with, and so photogenic! I mean, just look at their photos:
